Husband. Father. Son. Grandson. Business Owner. Agent. Sportsman

Thanks for visiting my page! I’m Joey, I live in Lakeville with my beautiful wife Heidi, our daughter Mallory (5) and our son Roy (2). It has always been my dream to own a business and I am finally living it as an Independent Insurance Agent and a Member of the Miller-Hartwig Agency based in Lakeville, Mn.

Background: After graduating from Lakeville High School in 2003 upon my Dad, a career blue-collar electrician’s advice, I pursued a welding degree from Dakota County Technical College. After a year of welding I decided it was not for me and I enrolled in the Business Management Program at Rasmussen Business College. I graduated in 2 years all while selling cars full time for Dodge of Burnsville to pay my way. A branch manager at US Bank noticed my hustle and convinced me to pursue a career in Banking. After spending 3 years with US Bank in various roles from Universal Banker to Financial Specialist I made a move to become a Senior Loan Officer with Wings Financial.

This was a difficult time for not only me but also my family, my Mom was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer at the young age of 50. One of the last things I remember my mom telling me was “Life’s to short, follow your dreams”. She passed away in May of 2010 just as I entered the Entertainment business providing financial and operations advice to a friend that was ready to take his business to the next level. I spent the next 9 years helping grow that business from 2 locations to 12 locations we had more than 120 employees and had entered the new world of Escape rooms. I was the COO managing all day to day activities across all business lines, this incredible opportunity helped shape my leadership thoughts and business acumen. I am forever grateful to the wonderful team we built.

In May of 2019 after 9 years of steady growth my position was eliminated along with others, a buyout hit home and I was looking for a new career. My mom had spent her career, the last 25 years of it, in the Insurance business with a captive insurance provider. Her dedication and passion to provide insurance to her clients is something that I would later find out runs in my blood. I danced with the idea of going on my own and becoming an insurance agent, but frankly I was worried about providing for my family.

I found a great company, Street Factory Media, with even better people in the special events industry and joined them for about 8 months, but I knew this was not my path.

Finally after a couple of meetings with the Miller brothers I had what I needed to make a move. I have a unique background in working with Insurance companies not only from a personal perspective but also from a professional and business perspective. I understand the needs of business owners because I have been there. I am currently licensed to sell Auto, Home, and Commercial Insurance, I will be adding Life when the current COVID-19 pandemic is behind us.

More: I enjoy spending time pursuing outdoor activities mostly up north in Babbitt MN where both of my parents grew up. I plan to set up a remote office there to offer the people of Babbitt more options for their insurance needs.
