Umbrella Policy Cheat Sheet

  1. An Umbrella policy sits on top of a homeowners/renters and/or auto policy adding an additional layer of protection above and beyond those limits.

  2. When a loss that is covered occurs the umbrella policy kicks in to pay for expenses and protect assets.

  3. It pays medical and legal expenses above and beyond your Homeowners/Renters or Auto policy limits.

  4. A typical Umbrella policy covers the following

    1. Legal Fees

    2. Lost Wages

    3. Pain and Suffering

    4. Emotional Distress

    5. Medical care, including physical therapy

    6. Co-pays & deductibles

  5. Optional Under-insured and Uninsured Motorist coverage is available for an additional premium. This covers you, if the other driver has no insurance or low limits and no assets to back them up.

*** Each carrier has some unique umbrella options but this is a good jump-off point.
